From a Hobby to a Movement
Nim’s Boutique began not in a swanky retail space, but in the heart of Nim’s home. On maternity leave, she found herself struggling to find jewellery that reflected her taste and budget. So she did what any determined entrepreneur would do: she ordered a box of jewellery to sell herself.
“It just started out as a hobby, really. I thought if people don’t like them, I’ll gift them to family,” Nim shared on the Fempire Podcast
“I sold out in a month—friends and family were my first customers. Then, I ordered more… and more. That’s how it all began.”
That first box of jewellery sparked a journey that would soon grow beyond Nim’s living room and into the vibrant heart of Leicester.

Breaking the Mould
From her first pop-up shops to setting up a formal retail space, Nim has always chosen to do things differently. Rather than joining the bustling Golden Mile, she chose a city centre location on Market Street to create a calm, inclusive shopping experience.
“The idea was to make it easier for people—shop for Indian wedding and party outfits while running errands or meeting friends for lunch,” she told Pukaar Magazine
“We wanted a place with no pressure—where people feel comfortable, even if they don’t buy anything.”
A Champion for Real Women
One of Nim’s greatest passions is inclusivity. She’s seen firsthand how Asian fashion can be limiting—with most shops focusing on a single size range or airbrushed perfection.
“If it’s always the same size model, very airbrushed skin… I wouldn’t relate to that. And I don’t think it’s healthy,” Nim explained on a recent BBC interview
“In our shoots, we always show different sizes—size 4 to 26—so people can really see themselves in the outfits.”
From day one, Nim’s mission has been to make every woman feel seen and celebrated, regardless of her shape, size, or budget. As a mother of two, she understands the power of clothing to transform confidence—especially for those who’ve felt excluded by the fashion world.
A Boutique for Everyone
The boutique offers everything from ready-made lehengas, sarees, and suits to fully customisable outfits for all shapes and sizes. Nim’s team ensures that no matter where you’re from—whether it’s a multicultural wedding or a quiet family celebration—you’ll feel confident and authentic.
Beyond the Boutique
Nim’s impact stretches far beyond Leicester. She’s been recognised at the Britain's Asian Wedding Awards, Small Business of the Year, collaborated with celebrities like Shilpa Shetty, and even starred on the front cover of Asiana International.
Yet, at the heart of her success is a love for people, not just fashion.
“I don’t want you to feel pressured—your happiness with your outfit is what matters most. That’s how I measure my success,” she explained on the Fryday Podcast.
A Vision for the Future
Looking ahead, Nim sees her business evolving, always rooted in what makes Nim’s Boutique special: inclusivity, comfort, and genuine connections.
“The world is changing every day. We have to adapt, but one thing will never change: this is a place for everyone,” Nim said in the Fryday Podcast.
